Spa Bleu owner, Tammy Coakley, had a passion for Aveda that blossomed during her education at the Aveda Institute and has sustained and informed her life and business decisions ever since. She worked for 8 years in massage, esthetics, and nails before opening Spa Bleu’s first location in Dundee in 2004 and throughout her career has sought to create a place of peace where her guests can experience the Aveda philosophy of beauty and wellness she fell in love with at the start of her career.
Tammy grew up working for her parents, both small business owners, and credits them for instilling in her a solid worth ethic and a desire to give back to her community. Tammy credits her salon’s success to her strong connection with Strategies and her partnership with the Aveda Network.
Spa Bleu is a family-run business that supports causes such as the Make-a-Wish Foundation; the Boys & Girls Clubs; local women’s shelters; and Spa Bleu’s own annual Walk for Water. For several years, Spa Bleu has been recognized as a Top 200 Salon by Salon Today.
Tammy knows that as beauty and wellness experts, she and her team possess a powerful ability to transform not only people’s days, but people’s lives. Her greatest professional goal is giving back to her staff and the guests by helping make the industry she loves stronger and better.
It’s no surprise that Tammy’s mantra is a quote by Martin Luther King Jr.: “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”
