How did you end up at Spa Bleu?
As the owner / founder of Spa Bleu working and developing our vision 10 years ago was an exciting time. After graduating from the Aveda institute in Minneapolis and working in an industry that I love. I realized very quickly that there needed to be some changes to a professional industry that has not always been taken seriously as a professional career. When we opened Spa Bleu our vision was to change the industry by creating an environment where there is professionalism, growth opportunities for our team, to nurture our team as well as our guests.
Over the past 10 years, how has Spa Bleu improved as a company?
Our beauty experts pride themselves on nurturing the inner beauty which will be reflective on the outside as well. Naturally with the power of touch, and natural products, we share with our guests our knowledge and belief in our Aveda mission.
How have you motivated and encouraged Spa Bleu’s success?
Thru the 10 years we have definitely had our ups and downs as a small business with the economy and a lot of learning and growing pains. I believe we pulled thru by never giving up on our values and high level of customer service.
What are you most excited about for the future of Spa Bleu?
 The next 10 years are going to be exciting! We are looking to do a remodel in our Dundee location in the very near future. Continue to expand and grow our name and always striving for excellence.
We love serving our team and our West Dundee & South Barrington communities and look forward to an even better 10 years ahead of us.
Our culture & vision has never been stronger. I am so grateful to a wonderful Leadership team, our Guest services team, as well as our Beauty and Wellness experts.

How did you end up at Spa Bleu?
I have always had a passion for the Beauty industry. Both my parents were Hairdressers & I went to work with my parents all the time. I went to Cosmetology school in 1991 however realized that doing hair wasn’t for me. I did however meet my Mentor in 1991 as well. I began working for Kathy in the Hospitality industry and from that day I knew I wanted to follow in her footsteps. I later finished my degree in Hospitality Management and had my 1st Management position opening a new restaurant when I was only 19 years old. After many years of Managing in Restaurants I was ready for a change & was approached with the opportunity to Open Spa Bleu with Tammy and Kathy. For me my decision was EASY… an opportunity to work for my Mentor again & go back into the industry that I have always loved! The rest is History and I wouldn’t change a thing!
Over the past 10 years, how has Spa Bleu improved as a company?
Wow, After 10 years I think we have changed a lot. But one of the things I respect most is the Vision has always been the same. I believe after all these years we have all improved as individuals along with defining our culture.
How have you motivated and encouraged Spa Bleu’s success?
I have the honor & the opportunity to touch so many people’s lives through Spa Bleu. I believe the more I can spread the word about Spa Bleu the better. We are a successful company due to the dedication of our Founders & our Team. As part of our leadership team we are responsible for daily motivation. Some of that might be from a coaching session, being a good listener, or just inspiring our team to be the best they can be.
What are you most thankful for at Spa Bleu?
The balance between my home life & my career.
What are you most excited about for the future of Spa Bleu? I get really excited thinking about where we will be in 10 years! Seeing our growth every year is so exciting & fulfilling.

1. Spa Bleu was my daughter, Tammy's, dream and I was fortunate to be able to help her fulfill it.  She had the vision and I trusted that she could make it work. Here we are 10 years later and she did an amazing job.
2. Spa Bleu has been a work in progress, always evolving with systems to monitor our successes and our challenges.  The one constant has been our goal to give 5 star customer service to each and every guest. As a team we, we know our mission and work it every day.
3.With every company there are growing pains.  We went through many during the economic downturn with in the last 5-6 years, after opening the South Barrington location.  Alot of sleepless nights.   In my heart I knew we would make it through and I kept saying everything will work out.  Let's just keep pushing forward.  Where there is a will there is a way!  Look at us now!!
4.  It makes me happy just walking into Spa Bleu.  I am fortunate that I am able to take advantage of alot of the services we offer, now that my life is slowing down a bit.  I love interacting with all of the staff. They are very genuine people and I feel fortunate to have each and every one of them on our team.  We have amazing managers, who's hard work and caring dedication has made our job so much easier. We could not do it without any of you. I also love to watch the servicew providers giving so much joy to all of our guest.  So many people come up to me outside of the spa and give such positive feedback.  That is a wonderful feeling.  It makes me very proud of the hard work everyone is putting forth to make Spa Bleu's 5 star reputation.
5. The future of Spa Bleu is in good hands with Tammy and Heather at the helm.  It is completely up to Tammy where and how far Spa Bleu will go. I am happy to sit back and watch my daughters continuing success. Our remodel in West Dundee is very exciting. The village also hired a person to market the downtown Dundee area.  We will be involved with the focus group and the spa will be involved in asking clients to fill out surveys for the village  about what they would like to see. More to come on that later.

How did you end up at Spa Bleu?
Previous to Spa Bleu I worked with Tammy at a salon/spa where we both provided services. I loved being her co worker and heard the news that she was opening her own Aveda salon and Spa. I wasn't super happy with working for a corporate salon. I took the chance in calling Tammy and inquiring about a hair styling position. A week after the phone call I started as a stylist and that's where my journey began.
Over the past 10 years, how has Spa Bleu improved as a company?
In my opinion Spa Bleu has improved most with these three things, having a system put in place, the delivery of a service and consistency.
How have you motivated and encouraged Spa Bleu’s success?
For me my passion and career came together which doesn't happen very often for many people. I'm the type of person that strives to do better and better every day.  By pushing myself to reach my own goals and pushing my team mates to strive to reach their own goals gets the team motivated to help Spa Bleu's growth.
What is your favorite part about working for Spa Bleu?
My favorite part about working for Spa Bleu is the pure opportunity I have been given.  Honestly, Spa Bleu has been my home away from home. I have met some of my closest friends behind the doors of Spa Bleu. I am blessed to have been given the education and continued training in the styling department. I have been a coach, a trainer and a mentor for my fellow team mates. I've been able to further my career and reach goals I don't think I could do without the support of the spa
What are you most excited about for the future of Spa Bleu?
I am most excited to see where Spa Bleu is in another ten years. It was very honoring to be able to be apart of this company from the beginning. I'm excited to see how all of the new systems are perfected and utilized for the growth of the Spa.
